Lukas Vanbeckevoort
Lukas Vanbeckevoort (°2002, Hasselt) was 6 years old when he started playing the violin. He took lessons with Lei Wang, the first concertmaster of the Philharmonie Zuidnederland and a teacher at Luca School of Arts.
In May 2015, he won the Cobra’s Classic Battle, and in 2016, he achieved 2nd place in the Breughel Music Competition, a national music competition for young talents under 19 years old. At the Young Conservatory of Antwerp, he studied chamber music with Nicolas Kende and Nicolas Callot.
In addition to his education, he has attended masterclasses with Ning Kam, Stephan Picard, and Ingolf Turban. He participated in the International Summer Academy in Cervo in September 2019 and the Arosa Music Academy II in September 2022. In June 2023, he obtained his bachelor’s degree.
He is currently studying violin with Marc Danel at the Institut Royal Supérieur de Musique & de Pédagogie in Namur. He reached the finals of the International “Competition Musica Goritiensis” in April 2024.
Lukas plays on a violin made by David Tecchler (Rome) from 1720-1725.
